Residents asked how safe they feel in their neighbourhood

How safe do you feel in your community? That's the question Adur and Worthing residents are being asked as part of a new survey to improve public safety.
Alongside other key organisations and groups, we are seeking honest feedback from the community to better understand and address incidents across the area.
The consultation is being run by the Safer West Sussex Partnership, which brings together community safety partnerships from across the county in a coordinated move to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour.
Sussex Police, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service, West Sussex County Council (WSCC), NHS Sussex, the Probation Service and other local agencies form the West Sussex partnership.
The online survey is open to people of all ages so that a wide understanding of people's experiences in Adur and Worthing can be gathered. People's feedback is submitted anonymously, and the survey should take around 10 minutes to complete.
Information gathered from the consultation will be used to ensure the Adur & Worthing Safer Communities Partnership is investing resources and funding in the most effective projects.
The duties of the partnership include working together to tackle crime and disorder, antisocial behaviour and alcohol and substance misuse. It also helps councils to bid for additional government funding for safety-related projects and initiatives.
Cllr Kevin Boram, Adur's Cabinet Member for Communities and Wellbeing, said:
“We work with a range of agencies, organisations from the voluntary sector, businesses and members of the community to help address crime and antisocial behaviour across our district.
“This survey is a good way for us to receive feedback and analyse how we can help people to feel safer in their communities. I am particularly interested in hearing the views of young adults and children.”
Cllr Rosey Whorlow, Worthing's Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing, said:
“This is a great opportunity for us to capture people's voices and understand where resources and potential funding can be better used to make our residents and visitors feel safer in our town.
“I'm particularly keen to hear how safe women and girls feel in their neighbourhood and our town centre. We hope their feedback can feed into our ongoing work to ensure vulnerable visitors to our town centre get home safely when they're out at night.
